Heard Around Our Towns...
There is news, and then there's lots of talk...

In Bloomingburg –
What about those two guys in dark suits at the recent meeting covered in our front page story? They said they were FBI; word is that their investigation is more than local. Meanwhile, the world keeps turning, buildings keep rising...

In Ellenville –
Why so few at the NYC public hearing on tunnel repairs last week? First off, there were competing meetings. Secondly the main focus was on the Catskill and not the Delaware tunnel. Thirdly, all of this is way in the future. Lastly, there seems to be some other news sucking the air of the room, and clouding people's attention.

In Pine Bush –
The latest worry, in light of happenings elsewhere in the county or school district, is that the appearance of new roads on one big farm property might be signaling the coming of... town homes? Big development? We're on it as the approval process keeps watchdog over all planning decisions.

In Ulster County –
What's a new sign of budget season? How about a county executive's announcement that more than $3 million in infrastructure funding will be made available to local towns, villages and the City of Kingston in addition to an existing $30 million promise? Applications will be due by November 25, around the time the coming year's budget is in full discussion, nearing passage. All is good, though...

On An Electoral Basis –
Presidential voting on social media? Fliers at SUNY New Paltz were falsely claiming it was okay. Meanwhile there's been lots of back-and-forth about who's qualified for what, and other electoral details that signal either a close election or a giant blowout on behalf of one party. We'll see soon enough...
